Last week, the Hazard Bulldogs traveled to Lexington where they did battle with the Bryan Station Defenders. The game was tight in the early innings, but a mid-game rally boosted the Bulldogs to the 8-1 win.
The two teams traded runs in the first inning, setting the score at 1-1. Hazard broke the tie in the third inning with another run, giving them the 2-1 lead.
Eventually, the Bulldogs got their bats going, and blasted the Defenders for four runs in the fifth inning (6-1). With Bryan Station’s spirits broken, Hazard put the game away in the sixth inning with a two run rally (8-1). The Defenders would not be able to mount a comeback, giving the Bulldogs the 8-1 win.
Devin Morris picked up the win on the mound, throwing six innings with 4 hits, 1 run, 2 walks and 6 strikeouts. Blake Nidiffer came in relieve, pitching the final inning.
