Hazard comes up short in state All “A” finals

On Sunday, the Hazard Bulldogs played in the state All “A” baseball finals. The Bulldogs took on the Beechwood Tigers for a chance to bring the state trophy home.

The Tigers led off the game with a home run to take the 1-0 lead. The 1-0 score would hold until the third inning when Beechwood tagged the Bulldogs for two runs (3-0). The final run of the game for the Tigers would come in the fifth inning, bring their tally to four.

Hazard struggled with their offense throughout the game, mustering just two hits. The Bulldogs were unable to manufacture any runs down the stretch, and fell by the final count of 4-0.

Devin Morris pitched well for Hazard, going 5.33 innings with 5 hits, 4 runs, 4 walks and 5 strikeouts. Andy Baker closed out the final two outs for the Bulldogs.

Hazard (0) Cole Ratliff 1 hit and Blake Lockhart 1 hit.
