The Hazard Bulldogs advanced to the state semifinals of the All “A” baseball tournament with a convincing win over Campbellsville on Saturday. On Sunday morning, the Bulldogs took on the Somerset Briar Jumpers with a trip to the state finals on the line.

The game remained scoreless until the third inning when Somerset pushed a run across the plate. The Bulldogs would have to wait until the fifth inning to get their offensive motor running. They scored two runs in the frame, giving them the 2-1 lead.

Hazard’s defense would be more than up to the task, shutting down the Jumpers down the stretch, and preserving the 2-1win. Griffin Wells got the win on the mound, throwing 7 innings with 2 hits, 1 run, 2 walks and 11 strikeouts.

Hazard(2) Griffin Wells 1 hit, Blake Nidiffer 1 run, Devin Morris 1 run, 1 hit and 1 RBI, and Andy Baker 1 hit and 1 RBI.
