Early last week, the Perry County Central Lady Commodores hosted the Lady Cougars of Letcher Central. The last game the two teams played needed extra-innings, and this one would also go down to the wire.
Perry Central staked themselves to an early lead, score twice in each the first and second innings (4-0). Letcher Central then embarked on a slow comeback that would see them score single runs in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings.
The difference in the game came down to a single run that the Lady Commodores manufactured in the fourth inning. The run was enough to insure Perry Central the 5-4 win.
Lauren Amburgey went seven innings with 6 hits, 4 runs, 1 walk and 4 strikeouts.
Perry Central (5) E. Eversole 1 run and 1 hit, M. Walker 1 hit, K. Pigman 2 runs, 1 hit and 1 RBI, L. Amburgey 4 hits and 1 RBI, R. Curry 1 hit, A. Hurt 2 RBI, M. Minks 1 run and 1 hit and C. Jones 1 run.
