The Perry County Central Commodores concluded their 2016 baseball season by hosting the Letcher Central Cougars. The Commodores got on the board first, and never looked back as they ended with the 7-2 win.
The Commodores opened the game with a two run first inning. Evan Hurt started things off with a single, and was joined on base by Dylan Fields who reached on an error. Both would score off a double by Ronnie Long (2-0).
The Cougars got one of the runs back in the second inning, putting the Commodores ahead 2-1. Perry Central would have to wait until the fourth inning to erase the run.
In the fourth inning, Evan Hurt collected his third hit of the game. Hurt stole second to get into scoring position, and then crossed the plate on a Braxton Cottongame single (3-1).
The Commodores had a little trouble handling the ball in the fifth inning, and by the time they got back on track, the Cougars had scored another run. However, the 3-2 score would not hold long as Perry Central broke loose with four runs in the sixth inning.
Evan Hurt opened with a single and promptly stole second. Dylan Fields’ double would plate Hurt, and put in position to score on a Brody Dixon single (5-2).
The Commodores would score two more as Ronnie Long and Brody Dixon added to the tally (7-2). Perry Central’s defense would hold down the stretch, giving the Commodores the 7-2 win.
Evan Hurt got the win, going seven innings with 2 runs, 4 hits, 2 walks and 2 strikeouts.
