The Perry County Central Commodores started their week with the Shelby Valley Wildcats. The game would not go the distance as the Commodore defense shut down the Wildcats while the offense was posting 10 runs to the board.
The Commodores put three runs on the board in the first inning (3-0). Perry Central was able to parlay four hits into three runs. Evan Hurt, Dylan Fields and Braxton Cottongame each had a hit and a run scored. Cottongame had two RBI while Ronnie Long also drove in a hit.
Anthony Hughes proved to be the Commodores lone run in the second inning. Hughes started with a hit, stole a base and came around to score on an error (4-0).
Another Perry Central runner would score in the fourth inning. Braxton Cottongame scored his second run after reaching on a single. He would later score on Ronnie Long’s second hit and RBI (5-0).
The Commodores continued to peck away at the Wildcats in the fifth inning, with Seth Napier scoring the lone run. Napier legged out a bunt, and promptly stole second. He then scored on an Anthony Hughs double (6-0).
Perry Central closed out the game in the sixth inning without recording an out. The Commodores scored four runs to bring the tally to 10-0. Dylan Field scored his second run of the game, while Braxton Cottongame came across with his third (Cottongame and Long each added another RBI to their total).
Brody Dixon got the win on the mound, going 6 innings with 0 runs, 4 hits, 0 walks and 4 strikeouts.
