The Perry County Central Commodores began their quest for the 14th region baseball title with the Powell County Pirates. The won the only regular season meeting 2-0.
Perry Central wasted no time getting started as they scored twice in the first inning. Evan Hurta nd Braxton Cottongame both scored on a Ronnie Long double (2-0).
The Commodores boosted their lead to 7-0 in the third inning. Perry Central had five hits, including three doubles, and a pair of hit batters in the frame. Braxton Cottongame picked up his second hit, run and RBI in the inning.
Perry Central continued to add to their lead in the fourth inning, garnering two more runs. Cottongame picked up hit, run and RBI number three, while Dylan Fields scored his second run, and Ronnie Long got his second RBI (9-0).
Powell County was able to avoid the shutout as they plated two in the fifth inning. However, it would be to no avail as Perry Central scored three in the sixth inning to bring the game to a close (12-2).
