The Perry County Central Lady Commodores began their 14th region softball quest with the Letcher Central Lady Cougars. The Lady Commodores won both regular season meetings in very tight games.
No one expected the offensive explosion put fourth by Perry Central in the first inning. The Lady Commodores plated six runs in the first inning, and set the tone for the rest of the game.
Perry Central did not score in the second inning, but went back to work in the third inning. The Lady Commodores came up with three runs in the frame, and boosted their lead to 9-0.
Letcher Central’s defense came up big in the fourth inning, keeping Perry Central off the dish. However, the Lady Commodores would come up with the necessary run to stop the game in the fifth inning.
Perry Central was able to move on in the tournament with a 10-0 win over Letcher Central. Laurynn Amburgey got the win on the mound, going five innings with, 1 hit, 0 runs, 0 walks and 4 strikeouts.
