The Middle School baseball region title came down to the same two teams that duked it out for the district title. The Perry Middle School Commodores and the Hazard Middle School Bulldogs hooked up on Commodore Field last week with the region title on the line. Hazard won the district title just a couple of weeks prior.
Hazard took a commanding lead in the early going, taking the 3-0 lead in the first inning, and stretching the margin to 5-1 in the second frame. The Bulldogs did not let up through the middle innings, extending the lead to 6-1 in the third inning, and 8-1 by the end of the fourth inning.
However, the latter frames would belong to the Commodores. Perry Middle began to make their move in the fifth inning, a two run rally closed the gap to 8-3.
The Commodores struck for six runs in the sixth inning, while the Bulldogs could only muster one. The difference in the inning tied the game at nine, sending the game to the final inning to decide the out come.
Perry Middle would push a single run across the plate in the seventh inning, wile Hazard would come up short of a run. The Commodores would take the region middle school baseball title with a stunning 10-9 come from behind win.
