Wildcats need younger players to step up

The Buckhorn Lady Wildcat volleyball team finished last season with a 5-27 record. The Lady Wildcats bowed out of the 54th district tournament in the opening round as they took on eventual champions, the Leslie County Lady Eagles.

The Lady Wildcats lost three seniors to graduations last season: Abby Abner, Chelsie Spicer and Allison Staley. Buckhorn is fixed with several younger players ready to step up into the void. However they are a little thin on upper classmen as Hannah Baker, Anna Stamper and Alphie Turner are the only seniors for next year’s squad.

If Buckhorn is going to improve on last year’s performance, they will have to have some of their younger players pick up the slack. The Lady Wildcats’ first scheduled game at this point will be Augus 17.
