The Commodores’ Chancey Francis will more than likely take over at goalie for Perry Central this season.

The Perry County Central boys’ soccer team went 18-3 last season, and went to the “Elite Eight’ of the state playoffs. The Commodores lost a wealth of talent off last year’s squad, but will be returning many seasoned veterans for this year’s campaign.

Not too many teams can loose the core of their team (James Blair, Carmen Byant, Robert Combs, Zac Combs, Travis Dun, Alex Eldridge, Robert Evers, Jacob Farris, Brecken Harvey, Charles Herald, Josh Lewis, Joseph Melton, Chad Smith and Tate Wyrick), and survive the next season. However, Perry Central will not go through a rebuilding season, but reload as they have a wealth of talent and experience returning.

Despite the large number of upperclassmen lost by Perry Central, Coach Lunsford was able to weave his underclassmen into the mix, and get them some well needed experience. Next year’s squad will return a wealth of experience as Dylan Adams, Devin Butler, Dagen Combs, Chancey Francis, Cody Gayheart, Zack Miller, Jake Mullis, Alex Ritchie and John Watts will hit the pitch.

Perry Central will start their 2016 season with a tough opponent as they hit the road at North Laurel on August 16.
