Perry Soccer hits the road for a scrimmage

The Perry County Central Commodores hit the road Friday for a scrimmage with Madison Southern. A very young Commodore team took the pitch against an experienced Eagles team that lost but three players off last year’s squad.

The Eagles scored first, striking in the third minute of the game. The Commodores would later tie the score in the 54th minute.

Perry Central would not score again, while Madison Southern would find the net three more times. The Commodores, however, used the later moments of the game to make sure that everyone on the bench got on the field.

Perry Central graduated 14 players from last season’s elite eight team, and put a wealth of young talent on the field for this game. Coach Lunsford later commented on his teams efforts, “I felt we did well for so early in the season. Our bench is not as deep as it was last season, and as long as we don’t suffer any major injuries, we should be fine.”

Perry Central will take on Model at Madison Southern this weekend.
