The Perry County Central Commodore soccer team played their final scrimmages of the preseason on Saturday. The Commodores returned to Madison Southern, but this time they would play a split game with West Jessamine and Model.
The Commodores took on West Jessamine in the first 40 minutes of the game. Perry Central opened the game strong, and dominated possession of the ball for a while.
However, as the period wore on, West Jessamine began to get the ball on their side of the field more. They would eventually score to take the 1-0 lead.
With time running out in the half, Perry Central went to their bench to get the younger players some experience. The younger Commodores made a good showing in what time they had.
In the second half of the scrimmage, the Commodores took on Model. Model scored early off a ball that took a strange bounce in the box. They would later score again to take the 2-0 lead.
The Commodores gave the majority of the second half to the younger players, hoping to get them some much needed time before the season starts.
All in all, Perry Central had a good showing defensively, but needed some work on their offense. As the season progresses, many of the inexperienced players will learn to mesh with the experienced players, and the Commodores should be in good shape going into the post season.
Perry Central will start their season this week on the road at North Laurel.
