On Friday, the Perry County Central Commodore football team loaded the bus and traveled to Lynn Camp to take on the Wildcats in a week zero match up. The Commodores started strong, but waned late in the first half. It would take a strong second half, and a last minute touchdown to pull out the 35-34 win.
The Commodores devoured much of the first period with their ground attack. The drive ended with a touchdown and a 7-0 lead. The lead would be short lived as the Wildcats ran back the ensuing kickoff (7-8).
Perry Central would score again on their next possession, but failed to convert on the extra-point. The score put the Commodores back up 13-8. At that point, the wheels seemed to fall off the Perry Central machine, and they went into the break trailing 13-28.
The Commodores began the slow comeback process in the second half. By the time the game was drawing to an end, Perry Central found themselves down a touchdown, with the ball.
With 20 seconds on the clock, Perry Central was on the doorstep of the “red zone”. Jacob Woolum then found Noah Back on a route that ended in the end zone. Cameron King added the extra-point, giving the Commodores the 35-34 win.
