Bulldogs rally for comeback win over Cougars

On Friday, the Hazard Bulldog football team took their undefeated record on the road to take on the 1-1 Letcher Central Cougars. The contest proved to be a back-and-forth struggle with the Bulldogs coming away with the 23-19 win.

The two teams fought hard against the others defense throughout the first half, with neither getting the upper hand. Hazard found the end zone with a Bailey Blair to Jason Johnson pass, and took the lead 10-7 at the half with a Tyler Collins field goal.

Letcher Central went up 13-10 early in the second half, only to see Hazard jump back in the lead with a Blair to Skylar Pelfrey touchdown pass (17-13). With time running out in the game, the Cougars were able to score one more time to take the 19-17 advantage.

However, Letcher Central left too much time on the clock, and Hazard was able to take the lead with another Bailey to Johnson touchdown (23-19). The Cougars’ final drive was cut short by a turnover, and the Bulldogs were able to run out the clock for the win.
