Early last week, the Perry County Central Commodore soccer team welcomed in the Golden Eagles of Johnson Central. The contest proved to a high energy affair with limited scoring by both teams.
The Commodores would be the first to break the ice as Dagen Combs found the back of the net 30 minutes in. After a hand ball in the box, Combs was able to score on a penalty kick (1-0).
It didn’t take Perry Central long to change the scoreboard. A few minutes later Cameron King ran down a ball and was able to deftly touch the ball past the keeper (2-0).
The Commodore defense would give up a goal just before the intermission. The Eagles used a pushed down ball off the corner kick to beat the goalie (2-1).
Perry Central opened the second half with a quick goal. Several passes left Cody Gayheart open in the middle of the field. Gayheart chipped over the defense and hit a cutting John Watts. Watts finished off the play for the 3-1 advantage.
