On Friday, the Perry County Central football team hosted the Cougars from Letcher Central. The game was expected to be close, but the Cougars ended up mauling the Commodores 52-8.
Only moments into the game, Letcher Central got on the board, taking the 8-0 lead. After a Perry Central turnover, the Cougars went up 16-0.
Just before the first quarter came to an end, Perry Central gave up another touchdown to Letcher Central, setting the score at 22-0. The Cougars went into the second period looking to stop a running clock from ending their hopes for a comeback.
Letcher Central went to work early in the second period, pushing the margin to 30-0, and soon after putting the clock in motion with the 38-0 advantage. The second half would start with the clock in motion.
The Cougars would drop a couple of touchdowns on the Commodores in the second half, while Perry Central could manage just one score. The loss would drop the Commodores record to 2-4, while the Cougars would improve to 4-2.
