The Perry Central Commodore soccer team finished up their week on the road at Paintsville. The Tigers held a late lead, but the Commodores managed a pair of goals in the final minutes to take the 4-3 win.
Paintsville started the game with a 1-0 lead after a free kick found its way past the Commodore goalie. The lead didn’t last long as Dagen Combs took a pass from Cody Gayheart over the defense (1-1).
Just before the half, Paintsville was award a penalty kick on a foul. The Tigers made good on the shot, and went into the intermission leading 2-1.
Shortly into the second half, Chance Francis got a foot on a loose ball inside the penalty box, and Zack miller put the ball high and wide past the goalie (2-2). Not long after, Paintsville got another free kick at the top of the box, giving them the 3-2 advantage with time running out.
With time winding down, Dagen Combs pulled in another assist from Cody Gayheart for the goal (3-3). A shot minute and 30 seconds later, John Watts scored what proved to be the game winner off a corner kick (4-3).
