Bulldogs fall to Panthers 29-21

On Friday, the Hazard Bulldogs (5-1) traveled to Pikeville to take on the Panthers (4-2). Pikeville jumped out to the early lead, and late in the game held the 29-7 advantage. Hazard made a strong comeback bid, but came up short 29-21.

The Bulldogs dropped their fifth straight game to the Panthers despite out producing them on offense 434 yards to 388 yards. However, Hazard went -3 on takeaways in the game, giving up a pair of fumbles and an interception. The loss dropped the Bulldogs to 5-2 on the season, 3-1 in the region and 0-1 in the district.

Hazard stats: Rushing: Bailey Blair 12 for 85 yards and 2 tds, Cory Smith 21 for 142 yards and 1 td and Braxton Whitaker 1 for 17 yards. Passing: Bailey Blair 17 of 23 for 190 yards. Receiving: Reese Fletcher 1 for 7 yards, Jason Johnson 8 for 83 yards, Skylar Pelfry 2 for 38 yards, Cory Smith 2 for 25 yards and Braxton Whitaker 4 for 37 yards. Tackles: Andy Baker 7, Jacob Brashear 3, Ethan Caldwell 4, Austin Combs 2, Robbie Davidson 5, Reese Fletcher 3, Jordan Hill 3, Kade Holland 8, Cheikh Ndiaye 5, Skylar Pelfrey 4, Austin Smith 3, Cory Smith 1, Isaiah Stupart 5 and Braxton Whitaker 5.
