17 MSU student-athletes earn OVC Academic Medals of Honor

MOREHEAD – Seventeen Morehead State University athletes earned a 4.0 grade-point average in 2014-15 and have been awarded an Ohio Valley Conference Academic Medal of Honor, presented by Army ROTC.

The medals of honor are given to the athletes who achieve the highest GPA in their conference-sponsored sport. A total of 199 OVC athletes earned medals of honor this year, marking the second highest output in conference history.

The MSU athletes who earned the accolade follow.

Baseball: Aaron Goe.

Women’s Basketball: Brooke Todd.

Men’s Cross Country: Mason Blevins.

Women’s Cross Country: Karina Manz.

Women’s Golf: Jeanette Petersen.

Rifle: Taylor Johnson.

Soccer: Kim Borys, Caity Fox, Elizabeth McSparin, Lindsey Oettle and McKenzie Ward.

Men’s Tennis: Ritchie Kruunenberg.

Women’s Track and Field: Courtney Smith*.

Volleyball: Colbey Cameron, Allie Evans, Laura McDermott, Stacy Silver and Jessie Wachtman.

* Primary sport is volleyball.
