On Saturday, the Hazard Bulldog soccer team hosted the Pike Central Hawks. The Bulldogs pulled out a 2-1 win over the Hawks last month, and were looking to make the sweep of the season. Both teams would match their totals from the first game, but Pike Central’s was an “own goal”, giving Hazard the 3-0 win.
Isaac Turner was able to break down the Hawk defense twice during the game to give the Bulldogs the 2-0 lead. Late in the game, Pike Central made several strong shots in the box, but came away empty each time.
With time running out in the contest, the Hawks attempted to clear the ball out from in front of the goal, and it deflected off their own play, and past the goalie (3-0). The goal deflated the Hawks’ effort, allowing Hazard to hold on for the win.
