On Friday, the Perry County Central Commodore football team traveled to London to take on the North Laurel Jaguars. It would be a Father and Son matchup between Tom and Chris Larkey. It was a need to win game for the Commodores as they chase the postseason.
North Laurel was able to capitalize on a Perry Central mistake early to take the lead. The Commodores snapped a ball long, setting the Jaguars up on the 3-yard line. A couple of plays later, and a 2 pt conversion, they had the 8-0 lead.
An interception set up the Jaguars next touchdown. This time the play went 11-yards and gave North Laurel the 15-0 lead.
Perry Central got on the board in the second period when Jacob Woolum hit Preston Mullins on a 17-yard pass play. The Commodores missed the point-after setting the score at 15-6.
North Laurel was able to get a couple more touchdowns in the second period. At the horn, the Jaguars went into the locker room with the 29-6 lead.
Perry Central played better in the second half, outscoring North Laurel 2-1. The first came in the third period when Jayden Neace broke off a 28-yard run through the line (29-12).
North Laurel quickly erased the touchdown, setting the score at 35-12 going into the final period. The only touchdown of the frame belonged to the Commodores as Jayden Neace picked up his second score of the game. Jacob Woolum ran in the conversion, setting the final tally at 35-20.
