On Monday, the Hazard Lady Bulldog volleyball team began their quest for the 14th region title. Their first opponent would be the Powell County Lady Pirates.
The first game of the match would be a real barnburner. Hazard jumped out to the early lead, only to see Powell County come storming back.
The Lady Pirates had a several point lead, and were knocking on victory’s door, when the Lady Bulldogs broke their serve. Hazard then went on to take the lead with just a few serves remaining.
Hazard could not close it out, and Powell County force extra serves. The Lady Bulldogs then buckled down to take game one 26-24.
There would be no lack of excitement in game two as well. Again, Hazard took the early lead only to see Powell County come storming back. However, this time the Lady Bulldogs would not falter at the end, going on to the 25-22 win.
The third game would not pack the punch of the previous two. The Lady Bulldogs stepped on the gas from the start, and never looked back as they took the game, and the match, with a 25-2 win.
