On Monday, the Perry County Central Lady Commodore soccer team traveled to Lawrence County to take on the Lady Bulldogs in the opening round of the Sweet Sixteen soccer tournament. Perry Central lost the game 4-0, but put up a valiant effort.
Despite the early exit from the state tournament, this has been the best season the Lady Commodores have put together in their history.
Perry Central started the season by getting head coach Kevin Whitman his 100th win of the season. The Lady Commodores set a record for wins in a season with 18, goalkeeper Keisha Couch set a new school record for shutouts (13), they went undefeated in the district, won their first region and appeared in the state tournament. They also had their third player named to the all-state team as Emilie Hicks was named 2nd team all-state.
