Professional wrestling is not a new phenomenon in Eastern Kentucky. Many residents have been proclaimed fans of the sports entertainment venue. However, the way the Appalachian Mountain Wrestling group has been presenting itself is taking the region by storm.
The Appalachian Mountain Wrestling group has set itself apart from other wrestling groups that have toured the region by getting involved with the communities. They have helped with fundraisers, and gone into schools for reading and anti-bullying programs.
Many of the wrestlers are local athletes that are determined to give back to their community. They have recently been involved in school fundraisers, and participated in reading and anti-bullying campaigns at local schools.
This weekend, Appalachian Mountain Wrestling will be holding a “Thanksgiving Throwdown” at the Sherman Neace Athletic Complex. Many local wrestlers will be taking part in the event.
Eddie Browning will be taking part in a tar and feather match with Beau James. The humiliation match will not only result in the loser getting tar and feathered, but if Browning loses, he will have to leave wrestling.
There will also be a “Strongman Match” featuring Sexy Stan Sierra against local favorite “The Freak” Clinton Stacy. However, the highlight of the evening will be the heavyweight championship match in which local favorite Kyle Maggard will go up against Jordan Kage.
Gates will open at 6:00 on Thanksgiving night. Tickets will range from $12 for VIP, to $8 for general admission.
