Last week, the Hazard Lady Bulldogs went on the road for the start of their 2016-17 basketball season. First up for the Lady Bulldogs was district foe, the Leslie County Lady Eagles.
The Lady Bulldogs were able to slowly pull away for the Lady Eagles in the first quarter, and by the time the horn sounded, Hazard was up 14-11. The game tightened even more in the second period, with Leslie County taking a slight edge. However, it would be Hazard that went into the break with the 25-23 advantage.
Hazard’s defense clamped down on Leslie County in the third quarter, allowing them to move ahead 39-31. The Lady Bulldogs stood strong in the fourth quarter, and defended their lead. They eventually went on to the 52-42 win.
