The Perry County Central Commodores opened the Smoky Mountain Christmas Classic with a win. The Commodores took on the Utes of Uintah, Utah in the opening round.
Things were touch and go in the opening frame, with no one getting the upper hand in the first period (16-all). However, Perry Central would manage a scant two-point advantage in the second period, going into the locker room with the 27-25 lead.
The Commodores would begin to assert themselves in the third period, building a 48-41 advantage. Perry Central closed the comeback door early in the fourth quarter, and went on to take the 72-57 win.
Damon Tobler lead the way for the Commodores with 28 points on the night.
