Early last week, the Buckhorn Wildcats hosted the Owsley County Owls. The Wildcats jumped out to the big lead early, and used a running clock to shoot down the Owls 66-37.

Buckhorn took no mercy on Owsley County in the first quarter, building a 23-0 lead. The Owls picked up their first field goal with just over a minute remaining (23-2), giving the Wildcats with a 25-2 lead at the horn.

Very little changed in the second period as the Wildcats went on to lead 41-5 midway through the frame. Buckhorn was one point from a continuous clock (48-14) going into the locker room.

The Owls avoided the continuous clock for a while as they came out and hit back-to-back “3”s. However, the Wildcats set the clock in motion soon after.

Buckhorn led 59-24 at the end of the third period, and went deep into their bench to finish the game. The Wildcats went on to win the game by the final tally of 66-37.

Buckhorn (66) Austin Bennett 22 (3 rebounds), Donovan Engle 19 (5 rebounds and 5 steals), Austin Morris 9, Daniel Hurley 7 (6 rebounds), Shannon Blank 4 (7 rebounds and 4 assists), Danny Abner 3 (4 rebounds) and Jacob Blank 2.
