On Thursday, the Perry County Central football team hosted their annual “Meet the Commodores” celebration. After the event, the Commodores hit the field for a dual scrimmage with McCreary County and Rockcastle County.
The teams used both ends of the field for a JV and Varsity scrimmage. Each team took turns taking on one of the other two. The event started with ten play possessions, and ended with alternating possessions starting at the 30-yard line.
Perry Central was successful on both sides of the ball against McCreary County. The Commodores were able to score several touchdowns with during both sessions.
Against Rockcastle County, Perry Central had a little trouble getting out of the gates, but picked up the pace later in each session. The Commodores were able to get a couple of touchdowns on the Rockets defense.
Rockcastle County’s size and speed gave Perry Central’s defense a little trouble in the early going, but the Commodores were able to adjust late.
New head coach Tom Larky commented that he felt good about how his team was progressing, but in true coaching style he added, “We have a lot of work to do before we get where we need to be.”
