The R. W. Combs Mustangs and the Viper Hornets met on the hardwood Wednesday night in the 6th grade tournament. The Mustangs controlled the tempo of the contest from the opening tap as they stampeded to the 43-14 win.
It was all Mustangs as they rode to the 20-2 lead in the first period. Little changed in the second period with R. W. Combs picking up enough point to ensure the continuous clock in the second half (34-6).
A moving clock limited scoring, but did little to slow the tempo of the game in the second half. The Mustangs led 36-12 at the end of the third period, and went on to win the game by the final score of 43-14.
