Last week, the Buckhorn Wildcats traveled to Hindman to take on the Cordia Lions. The Wildcats fell to the Lions 76-66 in the finals of the 14th region All “A” tournament.

Buckhorn got off to a less than stellar start, and fell behind 14-11 at the first horn. However, the Wildcats would quickly recover, and jump into the lead. Going into the break, Buckhorn had the 29-25 advantage.

The second half would be extremely close. In fact, only a single point would separate the scoring for the two periods.

The Wildcats tacked a single point on to their lead in the third quarter (41-36), had settled in for the battle that would ensue in the final frame. The Lions made several runs at the lead in the fourth quarter, but Buckhorn stood their ground and came away with the 53-48 win.

Buckhorn (53) Austin Bennett 14 (5 rebounds and 3 assists), Donovan Engle 13 (4 rebounds), Daniel Hurley 13 (3 rebounds), Austin Morris 7 (3 rebounds) and Shannon Blank 6 (9 rebounds and 6 assists).
