On Thursday, the Perry County Central Lady Commodores and the Leslie County Lady Eagles hit the hardwood with the 54th district title on the line. The Lady Commodores and the Lady Eagles did not play during the regular season, so the match up was a mystery to all involved.
The Lady Commodores came out hot, hitting all but two shots in the first period, while he Lady Eagles found it difficult to get a good look at the rim. Perry Central rolled to the 24-10 lead at the first horn.
Perry Central cooled off in the second period, while Leslie County was able to break the pressure. However, it would only allow the Lady Eagles to cut one point off the deficit, and leaving the Lady Commodores a 38-25 advantage going into the intermission.
Just minutes into the period, Perry Central pushed their lead to over 20-points once again. Meanwhile, the Lady Commodores’ defense buckled down, holding the Lady Eagles to a single digit performance on the scoreboard. Going into the final period, Perry Central was on top 54-34.
The Lady Commodores put the game on ice early in the fourth period, and went to their bench to finish out the game. Perry Central was able to claim the 54th district title with the 65-45 win
