On Friday, the Perry County Central Lady Commodores hit the hardwood in the semifinals of the 14th region tournament. Their opponent would be the Knott Central Lady Patriots (the two teams did not meet during the regular season).
The Lady Commodores’ defense took its toll in the opening frame as they jumped out to the early lead. At the first horn, Perry Central was on top 24-16.
The rolls reversed in the second period as Knott Central picked up the defensive pressure. As the game neared the half, Perry Central lead began to disappear. Going into the locker room, the Lady Commodores found themselves on the short end of a 41-35 score.
Neither team was at their best in the third quarter as they came out of the break ice cold. The Lady Commodores went down by double-digits in the frame, and entered the fourth quarter trailing 52-40.
Perry Central made several runs in the final period, but each would be met by a counter attack by Knott Central. The Lady Commodores were able to get the margin down to a pair of bucket on a couple occasions, but in the end, their comeback bid came up short 77-72. Perry Central ended their season with a 21-5 record.
