Over the past couple of years, the rivalry between the Hazard Bulldogs and the Fairview Eagles has become one of the fiercest in the state. On Friday, the football Dawgs boarded the bus and headed north to continue the series.
Fairview got on the board early, taking a double-touchdown lead in the opening frame. The Bulldogs were able to respond, and kept it close at the break.
The Bulldogs’ offense was hampered by turnover, and was never really able to get back in the game in the second half. The Eagles were able to keep Hazard at bay down the stretch, and went on to the 44-20 win.
The loss evened Hazard’s record at 1-1 on the season. The Bulldogs will host Letcher County Central on Friday. Both teams will enter the contest with a 1-1 record.
