On Saturday, the Perry County Central Commodore soccer team hosted the Jaguars of North Laurel. The Commodores went up big in the first half, and then had to hold off a serious Jaguar rally going into the break. Perry Central was able to correct their defensive woes in the second half, and went on to the 5-2 win. Perry Central went up 3-0 in the first half of the opening frame. Jacob Farris, John Wats and Travis Dunn each beat the goalie for a score. However, the 3-0 tally would be in jeopardy as time began to run out in the half. Within five minutes, North Laurel cut the lead to 3-2, leaving Perry Central looking for a way to stop the bleeding. The Jaguars scored on a pk after a handball was called in the box, and later on a one-on-one opportunity with the goalie. In the second half, it would be all Perry Central. The Commodores scored a pair of goals in the period, and came away with the convincing 5-2 win. On the first goal, Jacob Farris headed a ball off a defender to beat the goalie (4-2). The final blow came when Travis Dunn picked up a free kick from Bracken Harvey in the box and chipped it over the goalie. The win kept the Commodores undefeated on the season. Perry Central’s next game will be at Letcher Central.
