On Thursday, the Hazard Lady Bulldog soccer team welcomed in the Perry County Central Lady Commodores. Despite a very close start to the game, Perry Central was able to pull away late for the 4-1 win.
The Lady Bulldogs controlled the tempo early in the game, but could not find a way to break past the Lady Commodore defense. Perry Central was able to break the ice with a penalty kick by Whitley Gordon (1-0).
Just a few minutes later, Hazard would get a break of their own when they got a free kick from about 30 yards out. Amanda Asher was able to bend the kick past the outstretched arms of the Lady Commodore goalie, tying the game.
Perry Central then went up 2-1 after Megan Lewis drove through the box for a close range shot. The shot was blocked, but went straight back to Lewis for the easy chip.
Just before the half, Whitley Gordon got the Lady Commodores on the board again. This time Gordon powered a ball into the back of the net. Perry Central went into the half with a 3-1 lead.
The game cooled off in the second half, with the only goal be a penalty kick by Perry Central. Taiylor Noble took the shot that set the final score at 4-1.
