Early last week, the Hazard Lady Bulldog volleyball team hosted the Wolfe County Lady Wolves. The Lady Wolves had but on blemish on their record, and held a 3-1 win over Hazard early in the season.
The Lady Bulldogs got off to a slow start in the first game, but managed to rally late in the contest. However, it would not be enough as the Lady Wolves held on for the 22-25 win.
The second game seemed to have Wolfe County carrying the momentum from the first contest, but as the game wore on, Hazard made their move, and went on to win the game by the final tally of 25-14, tying the match at 1-1.
Game three saw another momentum shift as the Lady Wolves gained control. The Lady Bulldogs could do nothing but watch as Wolfe County took the 2-1 lead with the 25-13 win.
The trend continued into the fourth game as Hazard now had the advantage. The Lady Bulldogs took the early lead, and never looked back. Hazard won the game 25-16, forcing a fifth and deciding game.
Hazard would not allow the momentum to swing back to Wolfe County in this game. The Lady Bulldog led the entire way, and handed the Lady Wolves their first region loss with the 15-7 victory.
