On Tuesday, the Perry County Central Commodores hosted the Estill County Engineers in high school soccer action. The contest was very intense as both teams have their eyes set on the region title this season.
Perry Central’s defense stymied Estill County throughout the contest as the Engineers could only muster a handful of shots on goal. On the other side of the field, the Commodores managed a total of 15 shots on goal, but only connected on two. The two goals would be more than enough to pull out the win.
The first goal came on a give and go play between Jake Mullis and Zac Combs. Mullis passed the ball to Combs in the box, and immediately got it back. He then put the ball into the upper corner just out of reach of the goalie.
The Commodores finished their scoring on a header by Jacob Farris. Farris tracked down a pass from Zac Combs, and headed it past a diving goalie.
The 2-0 win pushed the Commodores record to 8-0 on the season.
