On Friday, the Hazard Bulldog football team celebrated homecoming by hosting the Jenkins Cavaliers.
The game was over almost as soon as it started as the Bulldogs cruised to the 46-2 win.
Hazard opened the game with a tremendous offensive explosion, scoring four touchdowns in the first period alone. Corey Smith started the period with a 38-yard run, and finished with a 24-yard scamper. In between, Jacob Blanton added touchdown catches of 20 and 36 yards (28-0).
The extent of the Bulldogs offense in the second quarter consisted of a pair of touchdown runs. The first was a 14-yard run around the defense by Skylar Pelfrey, and the final was an 8-yard push through the middle of Jenkins’ line (43-0). The score would hold until the half.
In the third period, Hazard collected their final score on a 36-yard field goal by Tyler Collins (46-0). Jenkins was able to avoid the shutout when they posted a safety late in the game, setting the final tally at 46-2.
