The Wildcats led the game from the opening tip, and controlled the tempo with their defense. Leatherwood had built a small lead at the half, and would carry the momentum into the second half.
Viper was unable to keep the pace set by Leatherwood in the second half, and the Wildcats began to pull away. Leatherwood went on to win the first meeting by the final score of 50-24.
