She was born in Hazard, the daughter of the late Hattie Miller Grigsby. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Hurt, Sr., brother John Grigsby and sister Freda Allen.
She is survived by her sons, Danny Hurt and wife Virginia of Lost Creek, Virgil Hurt, Jr. and wife Angelia of Viper, Steven Hurt and wife Sandra of Viper, Jesse Hurt and wife Beth of Lost Creek and Shannon Hurt of Lost Creek; sisters Effie Jean Henson and husband Scott of Dayton, Ohio and Lola Mae Helton and Roy of North Carolina. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the Engle-Walker Funeral Home of Hazard on Tuesday, November 16 with Alger Combs and Calvin Williams officiating. Burial followed in the Eversole Cemetery in Hazard.
