On Saturday, the Perry County Central Commodores traveled to Pikeville to participate in the Kentucky Farm Bureau Classic. The Commodores' opponent in this contest was the Louisville Moore Mustangs.
The game got off to a slow start, with neither team getting a good look at the basket. When the horn sounded to end the first period, Perry Central was on the short end of an 8-7 score.
Moore was able to crack the Perry Central defense in the second period, while stunning the Commodores with their press. The Mustangs built a double-digit lead in the frame, and went into the locker room with a 22-13 lead.
Perry Central battled back to within a couple of buckets in the third period, but allowed Moore to reset their lead before the horn. With eight minutes remaining in the game, the Commodores trailed 34-23.
The Commodores were unable to break the Mustangs stranglehold on the lead in the fourth quarter, and eventually fell by the final tally of 45-34. The loss evened Perry Central's record on the year at 1-1.
