Perry opens with win over Betsy Layne

The Perry County Central Commodores opened the WYMT Mountain Classic with the Betsy Layne Bobcats. The Commodores jumped out to a big lead, and never looked back as they advanced with the 53-42 win.
Perry Central had their inside-out game working in the opening minutes of the game, and jumped out to the early lead. The Commodores had their defense working as well as they held the Bobcats to a single field goal, giving them the 12-3 lead at the horn.
Betsy Layne found their offense in the second quarter as the Commodores cooled. The Bobcats won the points battle, but Perry Central went into the intermission with the 22-19 lead.
Neither team could find their range in the third period, but Betsy Layne managed to shave off another two points from the Perry Central lead. This left the Commodores with the 28-27 lead going into the final period.
Perry Central extended their lead in the early minutes of the fourth quarter, and continued to lead as time was running out. Betsy Layne was forced to put the Commodores on the line to try to pull off the comeback. Perry Central made 15 of 16 free throws down the stretch to take the 53-42 win.
