Hazard falls to Clay in finals of WYMT Classic

The Hazard Bulldogs took on the Clay County Tigers in the finals of the WYMT Mountain Classic. The Bulldogs lead throughout the first half, but could not keep pace in the second half as Clay County went on to collect the win.
Neither team came out with their offense in high gear, and score was at a premium. Hazard was able to hit a couple of baskets late, and at the horn the Bulldogs held the 7-4 advantage.
Both teams picked up the pace in the second period as they found their range. The lead went back and forth in the quarter, with Hazard going into the locker room with the 21-20 lead.
Clay County took control in the third period as they found their range from behind the arc. Hazard went into the final period looking for the momentum to shift back in their favor as they trailed 38-31.
Hazard fell down by double-digits early in the fourth quarter, but did not fold. The Bulldogs made a couple of runs at the lead, and cut the margin to five points midway through. However, the Tigers struck with a barrage of 3s, putting the Bulldogs back down by double-digits. Clay County was able to hit their free throws down the stretch, allowing them to hold on for the 57-45 win.
