Last week, the Perry County Central Lady Commodores traveled to Hyden for a district matchup with the Leslie County Lady Eagles. The two teams occupied the top spots in the region standings, with the game offering an early glimpse of the district tournament.

The Lady Commodores opened with their patented press and quickly moved into the lead. Leslie County was able to settle in midway through the period and began to pick up some baskets. At the horn, Perry Central held the 20-12 lead.

Perry Central cranked up the intensity in the second period and completely shut down the Leslie County offense. The Lady Commodores held the Lady Eagles without a field goal in the frame, leaving them to score on four free throws. Going into the locker room, Perry Central held the 47-16 lead.

With the game all but in the bag, Perry Central dialed down the pressure for the third period. Leslie County was able to get their offense back on track, but could do little to slow down the powerful Perry Central offensive machine. With eight minutes left, the Lady Commodores were on top 65-29.

Scoring in the fourth quarter was reversed, with Leslie County outscoring Perry Central for the first time. However, the advantage could do little to avoid the outcome. The Lady Commodores went on to win the game by the final score of 78-46.
