Major James East with the Hazard Police Department said he received a call from CVS Pharmacy in Hazard on March 22, reporting that four people were attempting to use what employees of the pharmacy believed to be fraudulent prescriptions to obtain controlled substances.
East said employees at CVS told him the four people, Scottie Foster, 33, Billy McBride, 35, and Betsy Wilkinson, 28, all of Hazard, and Shon Campbell, 37, of Hardshell, presented staff at CVS with prescriptions supposedly written by Dr. Alan Graham in London, Ky.
When East contacted Graham’s office, employees there told him there were no records of those individuals being seen, examined, treated by or given prescriptions from Dr. Graham.
This case is connected to another case involving Stephen M. James, 21, of Sassafras, who was indicted on February 11 of this year on one count of criminal possession of a forged prescription, East said.
According to the indictment, James was arrested on January 9, 2011 for attempting to obtain controlled substances from CVS Pharmacy with a prescription supposedly written by Dr. Graham.
Campbell, Foster, McBride and Wilkinson were all arrested on charges of criminal possession of a forged prescription on March 22.
East said the investigation of this case is continuing and further charges against these five people are pending.
