Powell County got on the board first with a single run in the top of the first inning. The Pirates turned a single and a couple of Commodore miscues into a run, giving them the 1-0 early advantage.
Perry Central began to take control in the second inning. Derrick Luttrell got a rally started with a lead off double. He was then brought home by a hit off the bat of Robert McClain. McClain would also cross the plate when Devin Turner dropped one into shallow centerfield (2-1).
The Commodores went up 3-1 in the third inning after a single run crossed the plate. Kevin Smith drew a walk and moved to second on a ground out. Smith then scored on a single by Jordan Campbell.
The lead jumped to 5-1 in the fourth inning as Devin Turner and Shaine Baker crossed the plate. Connor Hurt picked up both runners with a single to centerfield.
The Pirates drew to within one (5-4) when they picked up a 3-run homerun by Hayes. They then took the lead (8-5) in the seventh inning with a four run rally. They then took the win when the Commodores could not reciprocate in the bottom of the frame.
