The Yankees built a lead in the first two innings, only to see the Cubs come back. A late rally by the Yankees, however, gave them the hard fought win.

The Yankees touched the plate twice in the first inning and twice in the second inning to build a 4-0 lead on the Cubs. The Cubs pulled to within one in the third with a three spot on the board (4-3).

The Yankees kept their two-run theme going in the fourth inning, taking the 6-3 advantage. The Cubs were able to score one in the fifth inning (6-4), but fell victim to a six-run rally by the Yankees in the bottom of the frame. The runs would end the game's scoring, giving the Yankees the 12-4 win.

W. Pelfrey 3 runs, B. Blair 2 hits and 4 runs, S. Pelfrey 2 runs, Bx. Cottongame 2 hits and 1 run, Br. Cottongame 1 hit, and C. Hall 1 run.
