PRIDE hosts community meeting
PRIDE will host a community meeting at 6:00 p.m. on September 20 at the Perry County Senior Citizens Center. Committee members should be in attendance. Community members and orgainzations are invited to participate.
Attention PCCHS 2004 graduates
If you ordered a diploma plaque, you can now pick it up at the high school between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. at your convience. If you have not picked up your diploma or miniature diploma, you can pick those up as well.
Preschool Story Time at local library
The Perry County Public Library will be hosting Preschool Story Time during the month of September for children ages 3-5, each Wednesday morning September 8 through September 29, 10 a.m. in the library auditorium. Civil War reenactment open to school children
Take a walk through history at the Civil War Battle Reenactment at the Eversole Cabin in Chavies! There will be a living history demonstration for all schools Saturday, September 11, 2004. Cabin tours will begin at 9:30 a.m. See how families lived in 1862 during the Civil War. There will be demonstrations on historical methods of maintaining a farm, weapons, soldier campsites, and a school setting for the era. For more information, call 436-5792 or 487-8798.
Blue Diamond-First Creek Reunion announced
The annual Blue Diamond-First Creek Reunion will be held September 11-12, 2004. Saturday, September 11, we will meet at the Buckhorn Lodge. Dinner will begin at 6 p.m. Sunday, September 12, we will meet at the A.B. Combs School from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. for lunch and fellowship with each other. Lunch will be at noon. Bring lunch for your family or group. aCome on out and have a good time with your Blue Diamond-First Creek family.
Farler-Fields Reunion set
It's time again for the Farler & Fields Reunion, to be held Sunday, September 12 at Littcar Shelter #3 (white pine). Prizes will be awarded for oldest gentleman, oldest lady, youngest child, and farthest traveled. Last year's auction was so successful, we will continue with it again at the 2004 festivities. We are asking anyone who attends to bring a covered dish. Plates, napkins, and eating utensils will be furnished. Everyone is also asked to bring a craft or gift item. The item may be homemade or purchased in a store. For example: snow globes, throw pillows, candles, crochet, etc. We hope to see you September 12.
Fourseam Reunion set
The Fourseam Reunion will be held Friday, September 17 beginning at 5 p.m. We will have a soup bean supper. Also on Saturday, September 18 activities will begin at 10 a.m. Lunch will be served around noon. Napier-Pollard Reunion scheuled
The 15th Annual Napier-Pollard Reunion will be held Saturday, September 11 at Perry County Park in the Senior Citizens Building from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. All family and friends are invited. Please bring a covered dish.
Dillion-Asher Reunion set
The 24th Annual Dillion-Asher Reunion, as well as, the Hendrickson Reunion will be held October 1-3, 2004. Schedule is as follows: Friday, October 1 the reunion will reside at Pine Mountain State Resort Park Lodge, Pineville, Ky., dinner will begin at 5 p.m. in the lodge dining room. There will also be a social gathering at 6:45 p.m. in the Laurel/Azalea rooms at the lodge. Saturday, October 2 the reunion will reside at the Cardinal Inn - Red Bird, Queendale, Clay Co., Ky., (near Dillion Asher's original homestead); at 11 a.m. there will be a "Potluck" picnic (everyone is encouraged to bring a covered dish, please). At Pine Mountain State Resort Park Lodge in the Laurel/Azalea rooms beginning at 5:30 p.m. there will be a Genealogy exchange. Community reunion announced
Campbell Bend, Dunraven, Meadow Branch, Napfor
The Campbell Bend, Dunraven, Meadow Branch, and Napfor 7th annual reunion will be held Saturday, September 11, 2004 at the Low Water Bridge from 10 a.m. until noon; an auction will begin at 1 p.m. Please bring an item for the auction (no clothing please) or a monetary donation for the reunion fund. Please remember to bring enough lawn chairs for your family as well as your own drinks. We recommend everyone bring a covered dish (meats will be provided). Horse Show to benefit local Animal Shelter
Kentucky River Regional Animal Shelter will be having their annual horse show September 11 at the Perry County Park Horse Rink beginning at 7 pm. There will be 20 classes. Please come out and su port your animal shelter.
R.G. Eversole to hold meeting
The R. G. Eversole Middle School will hold its next regular meeting in the school library next Wednesday, September 8th at 4:00 P.M.
'Kudzu' wants your stories
Kudzu, an annual literary publication of Hazard Community and Technical College, is now soliciting submissions from the general public as well as students and HCTC employees for its 2005 issue.
A February 1, 2005 deadline has been set for submissions of poems, pen and ink art work, short stories, and personal essays. The short stories and personal essays should not exceed 4,000 words.
With the submissions, please include a few biographical facts, town or county of residence, occupation and/or interests. Please provide a return address, telephone number, and email address (if available).
Those wanting their work returned should send a self-addressed stamped envelope to Donna S. Sparkman, Hazard Community and Technical College, Knott County Branch, One Community College Drive, Hazard, KY 41701.

Petrey Memorial announces upcoming events
Petrey Memorial Baptist Church will host "True Love Waits" September 10-12. This is a Lifeway program for teens and single adults. Their upcoming fall revival is set for September 13-15, featuring guest Pastor Charlie Rice, Minister of Evangelism from Okachobee Baptist Church in Florida. Services will begin at 7 p.m. each evening with a nursery provided. Everyone is welcome!
