Early in the week, the Buckhorn Wildcats took on the Martha Jane Potter Cardinals in boys' grade school basketball action. The Wildcats jumped out to an early lead, and gathered all the points they would need to win the game by the half. Buckhorn went on to the convincing 60-25 win.

The Wildcats controlled the tempo of the game in the early going with their press. Buckhorn was able to pick up several easy buckets in transition via the press, and posted a 19-6 lead by the end of the first period.

The onslaught continued in the second period as the Wildcats could do no wrong. Buckhorn continued to hit on nearly every shot, and built a 37-14 lead by the break.

After securing the eventual victory in the third period, Buckhorn went to their bench for the remainder of the contest. Although the Wildcats' offense dropped off slightly down the stretch, defense still remained their top priority.

Buckhorn was able to keep the Cardinals caged in the final minutes of the game, and went on to the impressive 60-25 win. John Amis led the Wildcats in scoring with 21 points on the night.

Buckhorn (60) John Amis 21, Jordan Amis 13, Andy Blank 10, Andrew Abbott 8, Bill Gilbert 4, Adam Gay 2 and Eric Cole 2.

Martha Jane (25) Lucas 9, Roberts 4, Knight 8, Whitaker 2 and Brock 2.
